I had set the BIOS to AC97 thinking it would be more compatible. But I had big trouble with the microphone. I thought back of that parameter and set it to “HD_Audio”. And now, it’s just fine.
Having only two ears (and two loudspeakers) I haven’t tested the 5.1 or 7.1 or 15.8 capabilities. Stereo is just great.

Finally, I followed some friend’s advice and installed a spare soundblaster live! I got. Of course, it works fine and sound is definitly much better, while cpu is released.
Absolutely no problem, works just after alsa-config in Arch Linux.
Make sure to use the “HD Audio” setting in the BIOS setup for onboard audio, and NOT “AC97”, or you’ll get some funny results.
Works with the vanilla Intel HDA driver in the kernel (drivers/sound/alsa/pci).
no problème
Only the integrated sound chip works. And only stereo sound works so far.
