Working sound cards on Gentoo Gentoo Base System release 1.12.9 GenuineIntel (kernel: 2.6.20-gentoo-r8) by dobeliou (-3):

The chipset is a realtek ALC880 with internal speakers, 2 jacks (headphone + mic), SPDIF and a volume wheel.
The hda_intel driver is used with the default parameters which give the best result.

Need to use the last ALSA drivers (kernel 2.6.24)
The audio playback works, but there is no recording.
The volume wheels works and the mixer controls are ok.

S/PDIF output not tested.
