DRI works since (more or less) ati-drivers 8.30.
AIGLX claims to work since ati-drivers 8.42.3 (I did not test).
glxgears gives 1630 fps, fgl_glxgears 343 fps (was 1700/238 with at-drivers 8.39)
On my box, I needed to go to /usr/lib64/dri and create there a symbolc link to fglrx_dri.so and ati_ogl_a_dri.so, which are located in /usr/lib64/xorg/modules/dri. (information from http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_ATI_Drivers)
Worked with native resolution after installing proprietary drivers.
Works really bad with ATI Driver.
No 3d acceleration out of the box.
