Working sound cards on Gentoo Gentoo Base System release 1.12.9 AuthenticAMD (kernel: 2.6.17-gentoo-r8ART-9-28-06-gander) by Gooserider (-3):

Seems more of a software issue than a hardware problem. I haven’t played with it seriously, but have intermittently gotten You-tube stuff to play, and other sound working at different times. It plays CD’s fine.
