Working video cards in 2D on Debian 4.0 i386 (kernel: 2.6.20-16-generic) by Peterix (5):

Works OK with both free and proprietary drivers.

Current proprietary drivers (8.40.4-1) have some problems with artifacts – a garbled square in the lower right part of the screen and mouse pointer, although it’s a little bit better than in the previous one (8.39).
