Just make sure you set up the key bindings for it to work. Besides that, it is fully supported. Most “desktop” style distros will support it out of the box, and unless you make some weird change, it should keep your X session, too. I wouldn’t suspend without saving all your stuff first, all that said, but that could be said about any OS.
