Working video cards in 2D on Ubuntu 10.10 i386 (kernel: 2.6.35-28-generic) by tryptamine (5):

Uses the i915 driver for the embedded 945GME (Pineview GM) for good 2D/compositing performance. This configuration does not support VAAPI or XvMC, so videos and Flash are handled by a mini PCI-E BCM70015-based ASSP with ffmpeg’s xv output module in mplayer.

Working video cards in 3D on Ubuntu 10.10 i386 (kernel: 2.6.35-28-generic) by tryptamine (5):

This configuration has limited embedded graphics processing power and doesn’t support newer GL 2.0+ specs. 3D works fine (e.g. glxgears), but don’t expect a lot.
