Working PCI wireless cards on Gentoo Gentoo Base System release 1.12.10 GenuineIntel (kernel: 2.6.23-gentoo-r8) by seraph (5):

This is a Hermes Prism 2.5 chipset. Works with the orinoco_pci driver, but only in managed or ad-hoc mode.

Supposed to work in master- and monitor mode with the hostap driver, but this did not work for me.

My laptop (a Sony Vaio PCG-V505AP) has an external switch to turn this device on or off. Turning it on and off is detected by ACPI as sony/hotkey events 26 and 27.
