Here are the distrib specific procedures that have been contributed:

Debian based distribution

On a Debian based distribution that is LSB compatible, you can install the package using the following commands as root or via sudo:

  1. apt-get install lsb
  2. apt-get install alien
  3. alien -i <package>

See MEPIS below if you want a native package.

Arch Linux

Guide for Arch Linux contributed by Mildred:

$ cd
$ mkdir hardware4linux
$ cd hardware4linux
$ wget 'http://aur.archlinux.org/packages/hardware4linux.info-collector/hardware4linux.info-collector/PKGBUILD'
$ makepkg
$ pacman -U hardware4linux.info-collector-0.8-1-i686.pkg.tar.gz

Gentoo

Christian Faulhammer informed us that the client is available in the official repository as app-admin/hwreport in Gentoo. Just in testing, but will see the stable branch soon.

PLD

Thanks to czarny, you can download a package for PLD.

MEPIS

Thanks to Timothy E. Harris, you can download a package for MEPIS i386 and x86_64 at hwreport_0.9.4_all_mepis1.deb. It should also work under Debian Etch i386 and x86_64.

Zenwalk

JRD made a package script (ZENBUILD) for Zenwalk (4.8 but could be any version).

Starting with Mandriva Linux 2008, you just have to use urpmi or the Software Installer to install the hwreport package.
